User guide

Local-first desktop studio: manuscript → chapter audio → ACX-spec packs and podcast feeds. New installs include 5 free generations. Commercial export requires Pro at $49/month or $300/year. Sign in to sync a seven-day desktop key.

1. Install

1. Mac: Open the DMG and drag ACX Narrator Studio to Applications. If Gatekeeper prompts, right-click → Open.
2. Windows: Run the NSIS setup (.exe). Prefer Mac 0.2.3 today; the Windows build is earlier.
3. On Mac 0.2.3 you start with 5 free generations.

2. First audiobook

1. Projects → New project → Audiobook.
2. Manuscript → Import EPUB / PDF / DOCX / TXT → Split.
3. Studio → Generate on a chapter (uses 1 free generation unless Pro is active).
4. Audio Lab → Master all + sample.
5. Export → acknowledge ACX policy → Export all packs.

Sign in inside the app to sync access. A cancelled subscription stays active through the paid period, then for seven days offline.

5. Distribution honesty

Standard Audible/ACX rejects third-party AI narration (2026). Packs target wide distributors (Findaway, D2D, Spotify Authors, Apple/Google/Kobo) with disclosure. The acx-spec/ folder is technical-spec only.
